1. Citizenship of Saint Christopher and Nevis is governed by ChapterVIII (Section 90-95) of the Constitution of Saint Christopher and Nevis.
2. In 1984 in pursuance of Section 92(1) (h) Parliament prescribed such other persons who would be entitled, upon making application, to be registered as citizens. Accordingly, Section 3(5) of the Saint Christopher and Nevis Citizenship Act, 1984 (No.1 of 1984) provides as follows:
"3(5). Subject to subsections (8) and (9) of this section, a person is entitled, upon making application under this subsection to the Minsiter in the prescribed manner and upon payment of any fee that may be prescribed, to be registered as a citizen of St. Christopher and Nevis without any rights of voting save under and in accorance with the provisions of any law governing the qualifications of voters, if the Cabinet is satisfied that such person has invested substantially in St. Christopher and Nevis."
(i) The Investment requirement may be satisfied in any of the following ways:
(a) a substantial investment of at least $250,000.00 United States currency or its equivalent in East Caribbean currency in an "approved investment project."
The fee for each Certificate of Registration if US $47.00 or its equivalent in East Caribbean currency. The cost of each passport is US $13.00 or its equivalent in East Caribbean currency.
(ii) The registration fees applicable will be:
(a) US $35,000.00 or its equivalent in East Caribbean currency for head of household (male or female) or any other adult
(b) US $15,000.00 or its equivalent in East Caribbean currency for either spouse
(c) US $15,000.00 or its equivalent in East Caribean currency for each child under 18 years; and
(d) US $35,000.00 or it equivalent in East Caribbean currency for each adult family member
Once an item of real estate has been the basis of a successful economic citizenship application, that item of real estate shall cease to be an "approved investment" for any further application without prior approval of the Cabinet.
3. If you wish, you may photocopy the "Application for Citizenship" form, making sure not to alter our format.
4. Documents required are:
(a) One (1) original and two (2) copies of the "Application for Citizenship" form
(b) A photocopy of current and previous travel documents such as passports or identity cards for all those applying for citizenship.
(c) Birth certificates of ALL those applying for citizenship. Birth certificates of those under 18 years must be issued and sealed by the proper authorities, along with the proper English translation (if necessary). Each birth certificate should clearly show the child's names, parents' names, place and date of birth. Birth certificates with unnamed children must be substantiated with other documentary evidence.
(d) Marriage certificate duly signed and sealed by the proper authority, if the spouse is also applying for citizenship.
(e) Copies of divorce or death certificate and the custody certificate of any children from a previous marriage, if the applicant (divorcee or widower/widow) is including the children in his/her application.
(f) Medical certificates from a medical doctor confirming that the applicant and all those applying for citizenship are free of all infectious diseases, including AIDS.
(g) Certificate of NO criminal record from the competent local or government policing authority for ALL applicants plus any other documents on page three (3) of the "Application for Citizenship" form.
5. ALL PHOTOCOPIES OF ANY DOCUMENTS SUBMITTED MUST BE NOTARISED AND PROPERLY CERTIFIED.
(a) The "Application for Citizenship" form should be completed be EACH applicant over eighteen (18) years and submitted along with the documents identified on page three of this form.
(b) The "Application for a Passport" form 'A' should be completed by EACH applicant over sixteen (16) years of age.
(c) The "Application for a Passport" form 'B' should be used for children under sixteen (16) years of age.
(d) One (1) passport photograph MUST be endorsed on the reverse side by the recommender.
(e) If the recommender in Section 8 does not reside in the Federation, then such recommender should place a seal or stamp after the signature showing his/her name. If there is no seal or stamp then he/she must submit an affidavit sworn before a notary public confirming his/her position and identity. The recommender's full name MUST be written in BLOCK CAPITALS on the line below the signature.
(f) The applicant must NOT writeon the back of the "Application for a Passport" form 'A'.
6. Applications are processed in the shortest possible time.
